Tiger’s nest hike is a 2 to 3 hours(depending upon the fitness level) hike.The elevation gain of 519 meters and 2950 m above sea  level.  

Fun fact

-Monastery is beautifully preserved on the rocky cave.Many auspicious signs are believed to have happened during recent times when the temple was burnt down by fire,people trying to renovate the monastery tried to take the main statue to the other side of cave but when they reached halfway near the waterfall,lightning and thunder came from nowhere to stop them from taking the statue away.Not only that after completion of renovation,a rainbow came on the main statue of the monastery and the cave which remained dry throughout the renovation process started giving small drops of holy water.It is also believed to be home of talking statue and a wish fulfilling stupa.

Travel tips:

-You are required to pay entry fee of Nu.1000 per head to enter the monastery,which you are required to buy tickets near the car parking.

-Start early if you want to avoid the crowd and the heat.

-You are required to deposit all your electronic and photography equipment with the sentry before entering the monastery . Photography is prohibited inside the temple as with all other temples and monasteries in Bhutan. You are required to remove your shoes and headgears upon entering Tiger’s Nest monasteries.

-There is a cafe on the half way of the trek where you can enjoy tea/coffee or vegetarian meal.There is a also a washroom on the way which you can use.

Paro Ta dzong,the fortress of watchtower was built on the promontory of the eastern spur of Paro valley directly above Rinpung dzong in 1649 by La Ngonpa Tenzin Drugdra,the first Paro Penlop or Govermor of Paro.

The National Museum is open throughout the week except on government and local holidays.

  • Winter opening hours (November – February) 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. (Ticket counter closes at 4:00 PM)
